I actually wanted to buy a watch. Reasonable Objectively. After thorough research.
That's when I saw the Zeitgeist Automatic Silver Bordeaux.
From that moment on, the mind was largely out of the game.
The burgundy dial has roughly the same effect on me as a Leica in a shop window: You know that there are more reasonable decisions, but suddenly you're not particularly interested in reason anymore. You start to come up with reasons even though the decision has been made a long time ago.
Thankfully, the watch didn't disappoint me after this emotional short-circuit reaction. Quite the opposite. It not only looks good on the product photos, but on the wrist every day. The dial plays with the light, the workmanship looks high-quality, and every time I look at the watch, I am a little more pleased than would be appropriate for a mere timepiece.
The Zeitgeist reliably shows me the time. But so does my smartphone. What my smartphone can't do is smile at me every time I look at it.
Was the purchase rational? Probably not.
Was he correct? Absolutely.
Sometimes the heart wins against the head. And sometimes the heart is just right.
